The main areas where Volunteers are used
THE OFFICE AND ADVICE CENTRE The Office Volunteer Team man our offices in Torrevieja and San Miguel, offering one morning per week from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm. They meet the public coming into the offices , respond to basic queries and answer phone calls. HOSPITAL VISITING The hospital visiting team (HVT) makes visits to the two National Health Hospitals in the Vega Baja region. The Vega Baja hospital near to Orihuela and the Torrevieja hospital. Visits take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons between 2.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. We have permission from both hospital directors to make these visits. Each hospital has its own team of volunteers, each team meets as a group once every three months to agree the rota for the next three month period. Each team consists of two members, either two ladies or one lady and one man never two men. Each team takes to the hospital, books, magazines and talking books, also information about the services the association can offer. Also carried is Tell the Doctor books and the answers to many of the questions that experience has shown are asked. DRIVERS Drivers are required for visits to hospitals and clinics. INTERPRETERS Volunteers who speak fluent Spanish are required for a variety of purposes. FUNDRAISING AND SPECIAL EVENTS / SALES Volunteers are required to help at Fundraising events , Charity Sales and Special events FRIENDSHIP CENTRE We at the friendship centre meet weekly to play games , meet up or chat We cater for those who are on their own or to give carers a break If you would like to join us as a volunteer why not drop in on us between 2.00 pm and 5.00 pm on Mondays we are there from September to June at the Baker Centre in Playa Flamenca opposite the Dragon Chinese Restaurant
