Who Are We?

For over 40 years as a registered charity, we have been supporting people and like-minded charities throughout the Vega Baja area.

The Charity is totally reliant upon donations, funds raised from our charity shop in and local car boot, and fundraising events. Working alongside other organisations such as socail service deparments, British consulate and town halls, we offer support to individuals and families without judgement or prejudice.

Our San Miguel centre offers not only advice and information, but also includes, a charity shop, welfare team and mobility equipment hire offering some of the cheapest hire charges on the Costa Blanca with a 50% discount for members of the charity.

How do we help

Support is offered in many ways, dependent upon individual needs. For some, a listening ear is what is required, and our experienced counsellors are called upon. Others may need help in a more practical way.

Changes in personal circumstances can mean that people may not have adequate funds to feed thier families. We offer food vouchers for local supermarkets and work together with the individual and signpost them to other agencies when necessary.

Team hands

We provide access to up-to-date information either via our offices, and also through our website and Facebook page. Practical support is offered – from assisting people in thier applications for benefits from either the UK or Spain, TIE exchange, registration of S1’s, passport applications to any other administrative activity which they require support with.

From time to time the Elective Committee announce special projects. These projects focus on different areas of concern that we become aware of and where we feel we can best support people to improve thier lives. Special projects will be announced through our social media and oue office in San Miguel.

Hospital Visiting

Data Protection restricts volunteers visiting patients in hospital. However, we are permitted to visit with the permission of either the patient or an authorised family member. Upon receiving a request, a memberof our welfare team will be asked to visit. Requests for visits should be forwarded to our secretary on 966 723 733 or email direct to office@helpvegabaja.com

Orthopaedic equipment

We operate a hire service of orthopaedic equipment at low cost to the public and reduced fees for our members. Our vast stock of equipment includes wheelchairs, walking frames, toilet seat raisers, bath seats and crutches. This service is available to both residents and visitors alike.

What we do

Events are held throughout the year to raise funds and we are able to support those in need. This includes charities and those unfortunate enough to find themselves facing financial difficulties. This would not be possible without the tremendous amount of work that is put in by our team of volunteers. All our volunteers work extremely hard throughout the year for our charity, often in the background and we are very grateful for their continued support. If you perhaps have a few hours a week to spare and are interested in finding out about becoming a volunteer with us, please get in touch. We would love to hear from you. There are a wide range of opportunities from office administration to hospital visiting and much more in between!

We are self-funding and obtain all of our income from membership fees, orthopaedic equipment rental, donations and fund raising activities, if you belong to a group or club that raises money for charity, please consider helping us. We always welcome any goods that can be sold or used as raffle prizes.

If you are a member of a local club or group and you think they would be interested in having someone from HELP come along to give a talk, please contact our San Miguel centre to make arrangements.

Our Facebook page (HELP Vega Baja) is proving very popular – please “like” our page and you will receive regular updates of events and activities at HELP plus information that may be of interest to you.

It is important for us to have your up to date contact information, please ensure that if you change your address, telephone number or email that you notify us in order that we can amend our records.

Thank you for your interest in  HELP Vega Baja and we would like to thank you for the support you have shown to our charity.
